Miss MayhemWho is Miss Mayhem? To every coin there is two sides – most people have two sides at a minimum, some people have way too many to even keep track of. We all have an alter ego or a side we show to the public and then there is the side that nobody else sees. I would like to introduce you to Miss Mayhem, the part of me that most of you know or are soon to meet but few rarely ever understand. To understand a person, you must understand what drives, I am driven by art. Art is so broad of a term, it comes in many forms. Art is an expression of self in its most personal and purest forms. I believe the most amazing piece of artwork produced over our lives would be that which we turned ourselves into. I have chosen body modifications to express myself and it has been a process of creation, destruction and recreation. Ever evolving and transforming into something closer aligned with the person I want to be. Every journey has a starting point, and mine began many years ago, with seemingly innocent ear piercings that became a little more interesting as I discovered the beauty of stretched ears...and much to my concerned parent's disapproval the obsession began. 'Every day' piercings no longer gave me the satisfaction they used to and my mind began to think of all the wonderful ways I could pierce, stretch, ink and modify my body, which is when I also became aware of the unfortunate and out dated social ramifications of the freedom of expression but more on that topic in the future. Fast forward to current time and while some have seen my advancements as a little too much - I see them as a beginning to a lot of exciting experiences. The feeling of sitting in the piercing chair, anticipating a hollow needle penetrating through my skin and leaving me with a beautiful (and tender) piece of jewellery did quickly become something I craved. Mayhem Team members and close person friends of mine Lucy F (piercing) and Eddy-Lou (tattoos) have helped me achieve most of my modifications. I currently have around 35 piercings, stretched earlobes and septum, and an ever growing collection of tattoos. Those close to me know I am never satisfied enough to stop there, this will continue and I am excited to see where my journey takes me. It is something I hope to share with you all and hopefully give you an insight into the world of Miss Mayhem along the way. |
